If you need information regarding your FOIA request, please contact the Disclosure caseworker assigned to your request. They can be reached using the messaging feature within the IRS FOIA Public Access Portal or by calling them on the telephone number provided in the correspondence you may have received. FOIA requestors who have questions on a submitted request or want to know the status of a request may also contact the IRS FOIA Public Liaison line at 312-292-2929.
The IRS uses a technology provider, ID.me, to provide identity verification for access to IRS online services. If users need help verifying their identity or to submit a support ticket, please visit the ID.me IRS Help Site.
NOTE: To view your FOIA request, the "PRIMARY" email for ID.me must match the email used when the FOIA request was created. To add or update an email to the "PRIMARY" email for ID.me, please do the following:
- Click on FOIA Public Access Portal link: FOIAPublicAccessPortal.for.irs.gov
- Click “Sign In” at the top-left of the page
- Click “Sign in with ID.me” and follow the user authentication steps
- At the “Sign in successful” screen, click “Update Profile”
- Click on “Manage Profile”
- Click on “Add an email” and follow the email authentication steps
- Click on the three dots located to the right of the email added
- Click on “Set as primary”
- Click on your name/account located at top-right of page to log out of ID.me
- Sign out of the FOIA Public Access Portal if you are still signed in
- Refresh your browser then sign back in to the FOIA Public Access Portal using the link: FOIAPublicAccessPortal.for.irs.gov
